At the age of 15, while juggling her academic studies, her interest in sport karate grew intensely, and she would train twice to three times a day, visiting Sensei Santo Torre in Sicily very often during weekends for both specific physical and Kata training, with the aim to improve in her Kata performances. In 2005, Sensei Susan Zammit represented the Malta Karate Federation at the World Karate Championships in Cyprus, only to lose 3-2 in her repechage of the Kata event.
