The BIRKIRKARA KARATE CLUB is honored to announce that on the 8th January 2022, Sensei Robert Azzopardi successfully passed his Sandan (3rd Dan) grading.
The grading took place under the auspices of the Malta Karate Federation’s examining board, which consisted of Sensei Anthony Zammit, James Galea, Jason Edwards and the Technical director Jesmond Schembri.
Robert had to demonstrate a personally composed Kata and its Bunkai, together with the performance of three other Shotokan advanced kata, and again, with their relevant Bunkai. On the Kumite part, Robert had to perform sequences of focus pad hitting techniques and multiple line-up attacks of Jiyu-Ippon Kumite. The last part of the examination was dedicated to the ability of self-defense situations against weapons and close combat situations. Well done sensei Robert!
